Presentation skills

Presenting with impact 101

How do you present with impact and confidence?

Accomplished presenters make it look natural and easy, but that belies the preparation, practice and resilience needed to take centre stage and hold an audience’s attention.

Today, presenting at work is pretty much a given. And getting ahead in most organisations means mastering some presenting basics — especially when we step up as leaders. This means calming those nerves and projecting confidently. To do this we need to find ways to connect with our audience and learn how to structure a presentation logically and clearly.

Presenting with impact and confidence 101 - example experiential events

Self-Aware Leader - Interactive Masterclass

If you’ve sat in front of an interview panel or stood in front of a whiteboard, then Shakespeare’s saying “All the world’s a stage” might ring true. But how can we shine in the spotlight — without feeling the need to exit stage left pursued by a bear? We’ll be taking inspiration from how actors prepare for life on stage. We’ll look at the way they focus on their body, breath and voice to understand how these factors can increase our influence, whatever stage of the leadership journey we’re on.

Learning outcomes — through this event you’ll:
  • Develop the ability to present with confidence and control.

  • Gain a better understanding of how you’re perceived by others.

  • Understand how to come across with more credibility and impact.

  • Master how to reduce leadership stage fright.

Storytelling - Interactive Masterclass

Drawing inspiration from some of the world’s greatest orators, we’ll explore how the use of personal stories paired with techniques from the world of drama can keep your audience interested and inspire deeper confidence in your message.

Learning outcomes — through this event you’ll:

  • Learn storytelling skills to use in the workplace to build trust and connection.

  • Understand how storytelling and vulnerability contribute to building deeper and stronger personal relationships (fact, not fiction).

  • Learn how to present in a range of situations without having to read a script.

Influence and Gravitas - Interactive Masterclass with Actors

A forum theatre performance kick-starts this session on influencing. Shining a light on the conscious and unconscious ways we seek to influence others, we invite you to get curious about how we can move others to action. Able to stop the scene at any moment, you’ll actively give feedback to the actors and change the scene’s course towards a more positive outcome. You’ll experiment with different choices to examine how you can connect and influence more effectively, in a playful, low-risk environment.

Learning outcomes — through this event you’ll:
  • Understand and interrogate how behaviour impacts on our messages.

  • Make positive, conscious choices in how you influence others.

  • Recognise power dynamics and flex status behaviours to meet the situation.

  • Learn and enjoy influencing upwards.
