Last summer, as the COVID-19 restrictions narrowed young people’s lives and opportunities, Bristol university student James Elgar decided to put his time to good use.
Collaborating with his sister Lizzie, he developed now-U – a non-profit website and app that promote activism and social change, making it easy for anyone to support the causes they care about. It has a mission to inform, involve and inspire people to help tackle some of the world's most pressing environmental and social problems, from green recovery to child poverty, refugee resettlement and LGBTQ rights worldwide.
In the process of creating now-U, James also developed new skills and contacts which will stand him in good stead in his future career, boosting his confidence and employability.
